Health Guarantee


Requirements

This guarantee is valid subject to the following conditions:
  • The dog must be registered with the AKC/CKC using the kennel name Meridien.
  • Documentation for spay/neuter/euthanasia procedures must come from a licensed veterinarian.
  • All examinations and evaulations as indicated below must be obtained at the buyer's expense before the dog reaches 26 months of age.
  • Except as noted below, claims made under this guarantee must be made before the dog reaches 26 months of age.
  • The guarantee is null and void if the dog is bred or sold.


General

All puppies have received their appropriate vaccinations and parasite treatments. In addition, we expect you to have your veterinarian examine the puppy witin 72 hours of receipt of the puppy, and will not honor any claims made after that time except as noted below.

Hip Dysplasia

The dog must be evaluated by one of two methods prior to 26 months of age: OFA or PennHIP. Failure to certify clear of hip dysplasia by OFA or failure to obtain a PennHIP Distraction Index of 50% or less of the current breed median with no DJD present is sufficient to confirm dysplasia. Should the dog be diagnosed dysplastic you have the following remedies:
  • The dog may be returned to us for replacement when available.
  • The dog may be euthanised by a licensed veterinarian.
  • The dog may be spayed or neutered and kept by the buyer. If the buyer elects to keep the dog, a replacement pup will be sold for one-half of the purchase price when available.


Hereditary Eye Defects

The dog must be examined by a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Opthamology. Failure to obtain a evaluation of "normal" is sufficient to indicate a hereditary eye defect. Should the dog fail to obtain a CERF clearance, you have the following remedies:
  • The dog may be returned to us for replacement when available.
  • The dog may be euthanised by a licensed veterinarian.
  • The dog may be spayed or neutered and kept by the buyer. If the buyer elects to keep the dog, a replacement pup will be sold for one-half of the purchase price when available.


Sub-Aortic Stenosis

The dog must be examined by a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Cardiology, with a color Doppler ultra-sound. Should the dog be diagnosed with a hereditary heart defect you have the following remedies:
  • The dog may be returned to us for replacement when available.
  • The dog may be euthanised by a licensed veterinarian.
  • The dog may be spayed or neutered and kept by the buyer. If the buyer elects to keep the dog, a replacement pup will be sold for one-half of the purchase price when available.


Other Genetic Problems

All dogs must be examined by a licensed veterinarian before 12 months of age. Should your veterinarian, Meridien Retrievers, and Meridien Retrievers' veterinarian discover and concur on the existence of a genetic-specific defect you have the following remedies:
  • The dog may be returned to us for replacement.
  • The dog may be spayed or neutered and kept by the buyer. If the buyer elects to keep the dog, a replacement pup will be sold for one-half of the purchase price when available.
